Last week I “discovered” a small pond in Hugh Ramsey World Birding Centre in Harlingen. The pond has always been there. But it is off the beaten track somewhat. I sat and watched the pond for some time. And the more I watched, the more snakes I saw. It turns out they were a “family” of Diamondback Water Snakes. Non-venomous. One of them was HUGE. I bet I saw at least 5 snakes in this pond.
I was back there this afternoon to have another look. I could only find 2 snakes today. One was coiled up on a branch over the water. Very neat pattern on these snakes.
