Every Friday evening there is a dance with live music by the Texas Country Band from 7 to 10 pm in the park dance hall. Our place is just 3 doors down from the back of the dance hall. We generally go to the dance and often sit with a couple of tables of Canadians. The dances are a fun sociable evening and provide the opportunity to practice the Texas Two-Step. We are not very good at it. But it is fun any way. But last night, we decided to just stay home for a change.
This morning, i awoke to another glorious day. (We have been lucky, lately). Abby and I went for a 5,000 step walk around the park, then out the back gate to the Resaca and walked along the road that bothers the Resaca. Very still this morning. The water was like a sheet of glass. Not much in the way of birds by the water except for a Bewick’s Wren, a few Lincoln’s Sparrows and some Black-bellied Whistling Ducks. But just after. Getting back thru the front gate into the park, a nice White-tailed Kite flew overhead quite low.
This afternoon, we went down to Jackson Street in Harlingen to stroll the monthly Saturday market. It was pretty crowded. We bought some plants and sat down to eat some tostados. Three tostados and a pineapple drink for $9. Not bad.
