Edinburg is a good-sized town about 45 minutes west of our RV Resort Park. There is a park in town with sports facilities and also with walking trails and the Scenic Wetlands are adjacent to the park. The Scenic Wetlands is part of the World Birding Center network. There is a Visitor Center and Interpretive Resources. There are several ponds and trails throughout. Various plantings and gardens are set up for butterflies and birds.
The Arroyo Colorado Audubon Society scheduled a field trip to the wetlands for yesterday. There were approximately 25 people in attendance. There were ducks, water-birds and shorebirds in and around the water. A Tri-coloured Heron, several Great Blues, both Night-Herons, Snowy Egrets, a pair of Green Kingfishers, Neo-tropic and Double-crested Cormorants, a Canvasback, some Redheads, some Ring-necks were all evident. In the trees and bushes, there were Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Orange-crowned and Yellow-rumped Warblers, Verdin, White-eyed Vireos and a Vermillion Flycatcher.
I was able to get a pretty good picture of a White-eyed Vireo. I will also post a picture of the Vermillion Flycatcher, although the picture isn’t really all that good.
Can you guess which one is the vireo?
