Larry and Paul arrived late on Saturday, to experience the WONDERFUL WORLD OF BIRDING here in the Rio Grande Valley. Since their arrival, we have only had one decent day (Sunday). The rest have all been cold, rainy and windy. Not the best weather for birding. But when you are only here for a short. fixed amount of time, you make the most of it. Not sure about Paul, but Larry has already chalked up about 20 lifers. And they also had some dynamite looks at Javelina (also called Peccary or skunk pig) at Hugh Ramsey yesterday.
We have been getting up early and taking off to various birdy places around here. So far, they have hit South Padre Island, Hugh Ramsey Nature Reserve, Estero LLano Grande World Birding Center, Resaca de la Palma World Birding Center and they immediate area around the RV Park, including the Resaca behind us. We are going to head to the Valley Nature Center in Weslaco today.
