Last September I took a trip to the Santa Cruz, Monterrey and Big Sur areas of California. It was all part of the Monterrey Bay Birding Festival. It was magical place. The birding was fantastic. This morning while sorting thru some of my pictures, I came across this one of a CALIFORNIA CONDOR. This species almost disappeared. The effort to keep these magnificent birds from extinction is on-going. Many are being held in captivity. Condors living in the wild can only be viewed in a couple of the areas in California and Arizona. However, viewing condors along the coast was easy. We saw many. And some were VERY close.
