Last weekend, we were in Ottawa visiting with my oldest son and his family. We had a great visit and it was wonderful to see the family again. We don’t get together very often due to the long distance involved. Had surgery late Monday and I am trying to heal from that.
Bought some peanuts for the feeder today.
This morning it rained steadily. Then it started clear up this afternoon. By 4 PM, the sun was shinning. After spending most of day cleaning (garage and downstairs), I decided to jump in the car and head down to Melbourne (Hyndman Road) for a late afternoon drive. I haven’t been down that way for quite some time. The fields are mostly corn and beans. One rather large field on the south side of Hyndman is mostly tall, weedy-looking plants. There were a lot of AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES in the weeds. And I had fun watching an AMERICAN KESTREL flying from fencepost to fencepost. Other then a few MOURNING DOVES on the wires here and there and a couple of tight flocks of blackbirds, there were not alot of birds to be seen. I wasn’t gone long, just about an hour. But it satisfied my need to get out.
