November 9, 2011 – Texas Trip (day two)

Today we took a bus trip to the La LaJa Ranch.  The bus left the convention centre here in Harlingen at 5 AM on the dot.  The ranch is located 16 miles south of Laredo.  It was about a 3 hour bus ride each way.  The main reason for this trip was to try to see WHITE-COLLARED SEEDEATERS.  When we arrived, we split the approximitely 50 people into three groups.  The weather changed dramatically over-night.  Today it was windy and “cold” (65-70 degrees), with cloudy skies .  We wandered around some of the roadways thru the ranch for 3 hours.  The ranch is bordered my the Rio Grande River, so we spent quite a bit of time searching the river and shoreways.

We did see some interesting birds, including 11 lifers for me.  Here is a list of the birds I saw:

    Hope you two are having a great time!!!!
    Weather quite nasty here.Temp has dropped and very high winds.
    Tell Bob the dogs are fine and Mitzi is fine and his house has not burned down yet…lol
    Winter is on the way here so enjoy your Texas weather!!!
