Did not have to work today. So late this afternoon, I drove down to the Melbourne and scouted out the area for SHORT-EARED OWLS. And just as it was starting to get dark, 5 or 6 (maybe more, hard to tell) owls flew out of the marshy area. They flew right over the vehicle and swirled around there coming quite close to investigate just what had invaded their hunting ground. Then they move out and started hunting out over the near-by fields. Quite a sight. Not many people get the chance or the opportunity to witness these lovely, graceful creatures so close and personal.
